Caregiver (Kids Center)

Title / Position: Kids Center Caregiver
Position type: Seasonal, Full-time or Part-time; Hourly, Non-Exempt
Reports to: Director of Ski & Snowboard School, Kids Center Supervisor

Caring for the children of our guests is a great responsibility that we take seriously. In the Kids Center our customers are ages 6 weeks to 6 years old. The program is a combination of inside care and outside ski lessons – one of the only programs like it in the Eastern US. Inside care involves arts and crafts, games, group activities and free play. Outside ski lessons are available for children ages 2½ to 6. Experience caring for children, younger siblings, babysitting, camp counselor, etc. is preferred. Most important is a positive, upbeat personality and the ability to wear a smile every day and make each child’s visit a wonderful experience.

Summary: Primary role is providing inside care for children of guests and employees; ages 6 weeks to 6 years old. Secondary role for select Caregivers is to also provide ski instruction.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Cares for children ranging from 6 weeks old to 6 yrs old
Oversees meals, eating with children and feeding infants
Cleans and maintains general daycare area
Participates in activities with children such as arts and crafts, games, etc.
Dressing and undressing children for the outside ski program
Assist children to and from lesson areas (select staff)
Implement good ski instruction to children (select staff)
Accompany children safely back to the Kids Center (select staff)
Fill out ski report card (select staff)

Qualifications and Competencies:

Must pass a Vermont State background check
Must be 18 years or older
Must like children
Must have some babysitting experience
Maintain a caring and sensitive attitude towards guest
Have the mental capacity and awareness to care for the physical, social and psychological needs of up to 10 children for long periods
Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills
Flexible in response to changing assignments and working in a fast paced environment
Punctual and prepared to perform work duties on time
Able to lift 20lbs on a frequent basis throughout the day
Must maintain personal appearance in accordance with Bromley standards
Have reliable transportation

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position has no staff supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment:

This job operates primarily in an indoor day care environment interacting with children of all ages, their parents, and other staff members. This role uses standard office equipment such as computer, phones, and photocopiers. Occasional work outdoors (any time of year) is likely throughout the base of operations.

Physical Demands:

This is an active role working indoors moving toys and other childcare related items; however, some movement and work outdoors (safely crossing ice and snow) around the entire resort is necessary. Must be able to lift and carry 20 lbs frequently throughout the shift.
