Snowmaker (Night Crew) (Bonus and OT available)

Some of the most important jobs take place when nobody is around to see success. This can be said about snowmaking. Snow is made by a small group of highly motivated and dedicated members of the Bromley team who operate when the weather is right for making snow. This can be day or night, during weekends and holidays, starting in early November and lasting through most of the season. Bromley Mountain Resort is looking for a few new snowmakers to compliment our existing night crew. No previous snowmaking experience is necessary – we can train you to do the job. What we demand is a good attitude, being physically fit, and teamwork is paramount.
*This position receives a 10% hourly bonus compared to day shift plus overtime (OT) almost every week we have cold temps.
Summary: Primary responsibility is to make safe, high quality snow to enhance our guest’s experience at Bromley.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Understand hand/headlamp signals as well as proper radio protocol
Understand specific snow gun types and how they work ie. Fixed flow, banks, control at hydrant
Startup/shutdown procedures for each type of gun including blowing out of hoses
Safely move all types of guns for proper snow dispersal
Monitor equipment and conditions to prevent freezing
Basic understanding of different snow qualities (P-scale)
Safely operate a propane torch
Safely operate snowmobile/4-wheeler on mountain terrain
Perform other duties as requested by supervisor
Assist in other departments as needed
Qualifications and Competencies:
18 years of age or older
Must be able to work weekends and holidays
Punctual and prepared to perform work duties on time
Able to withstand extreme weather conditions
Able to work standing up for extended periods of time
Able to walk and physically negotiate steep and variable terrain without difficulty and assistance on a frequent basis
Able to push, pull and lift substantial amount of weight on a frequent basis
Able to ride a chairlift and not afraid of heights
Safety conscious and oriented
Able to work a night shift
This position has no supervisory responsiblity.
This job operates primarily outdoors during the winter season. This includes all forms of winter weather found in Vermont. This role routinely uses standard snowmaking equipment and snowmobiles.
This is a physically active role requiring several hours of standing and working outdoors over uneven terrain, snow, and ice. Must be able to lift and carry 30 lbs over uneven terrain.
