There are two course options, a shorter recreational “fun” climb for weekend uphillers, and the longer U.S. Ski Mountaineering Association sanctioned race for more competitive skiers going for a personal best. Prizes and free “Skimo” swag for all participants!

The popularity of Ski Mo (ski mountaineering) or Alpine Touring skiing (a.k.a. “Uphill Skiing”) has exploded the last few years, particularly in New England. It’s now even an Olympic Sport debuting at the 2026 Games in Cortina, Italy.

Bromley Mountain has been a important player in the sport’s development thanks to its longstanding uphill policy, and regular sponsorship of the New England Rando Race series circuit for over a decade.

On Saturday, February 3rd, Skimo racing returns to Bromley with the NE Rando Race “The Sun” event! The race is for recreational skiers interested in a fun Saturday challenge, as well as elite ski mountaineering racers from across the Northeast and Canada. The race’s unique dual format gives everyone a chance to meet, participate and learn from the best, including World Cup champions and U.S. National Team members!
