JISP/KAP School Programs
The Junior Instructional Snowsports Program (JISP) was started in 1951 by Sally Pabst, wife of Fred Pabst the first owner and pioneer of Bromley Mountain, and Betsy Fowler, both from Manchester. Their vision was to provide local school children an inexpensive way to learn to ski. Today, the Bromley Outing Club teaches over 700 local students from a variety of schools in Southwestern Vermont: Bennington, Dorset, Flood Brook, Shaftsbury, Arlington, Sacred Heart, Sunderland, Danby, MEMS, Long Trail, Maple Street, Mettawee, Southshire and Wells. The JISP program continues offering one-on-one classes for people with disabilities with the assistance of the Bart J. Ruggiere Adaptive Sports Center and its many volunteers, which is located conveniently at the base of Bromley Mountain.
