Helpful Hints

We want you and your family to have a great experience at Bromley, and we're sure that you will once you get here. Sometimes it's the preparation and the car ride that can be tough, so we have provided some tips to help with both!

QUICK TIPS FOR ANY SKI VACATION

  • Take appropriate ski clothing:  fleeces, jackets, socks, long johns, neckwarmers, hats and gloves. Of course, if you forget something you can always buy it at the Bromley Shop.
  • Dress in Layers: the first layer should be a wicking layer (polypropylene long underwear), then an insulating layer to keep you warm (fleece wool etc.), and the last layer should protect you from the weather... for example, a shell that's water proof.
  • Hats vs. Helmets - it is highly advisable to wear a helmet, however if that's not your thing, a warm hat is key.  (Helmets are required for our KidsRule Mountain Camps, but a rental is provided free of charge).
  • Socks:  We suggest only one pair of wool or poly that come up over your calf.  Boots should fit snugly.
  • Gloves or mittens:  if your hands get cold easily wear mittens; waterproof mittens or gloves are best.
  • Sun wear:  don't forget your sunscreen, and goggles or sunglasses are key on bright days.
  • It is advisable to make sure you are generally fit before going on a ski trip, skiing and riding is very physical.
  • Always drink large quantities of water; it is very easy to become dehydrated.
  • Follow the responsibility code, it is mostly common sense and keeps you and others safe on the slopes.
  • Always take note of the mountain signs; if a run is closed there will be a good reason why!
  • Always take a trail map and make sure you know where you are.
  • Avoid skiing beyond your ability; most accidents happen when people are going too fast for their ability.

FOR TRAVELING FAMILIES

  • Try to maintain a sense of humor.
  • The calmer you remain, the calmer your children will be.
  • Organization is a key element in travel - Organize your packing so that certain items like a change of clothes, favorite toys and quick healthy snacks and drinks, first aid supplies, are readily available.
  • Planning - feed your children before they get hungry and plan your travel times around napping and normal eating times, look for a restaurant about an hour before you want to eat so that food is being served before everyone is hungry.
  • A thermos with hot water provides a simple way to heat up a bottle during travel or at night in the hotel room.
  • Provide healthy snacks and drinks in between normal meal times while traveling.
  • Wet naps make for easy quick clean ups.
  • An extra pacifier or favorite blanket can be a saving grace.
  • Remember the camera!

FOR OUR SKI & SNOWBOARD SCHOOL GUESTS

  • Due to high demand, reservations are strongly recommended for all programs and are a must during holiday periods.
  • On busy weekends and holidays, plan to get to the mountain early, between 8 and 8:30 a.m., especially if you have children and if you need rental equipment.
  • Parents are urged to arrive on time; the KidsRule Mountain Camp program organizes between 9:45 a.m. and 10:00 a.m., classes start promptly at 10:00 a.m.
  • To insure the best results for you and your child, please give accurate information (ages, abilities, etc.) to our experienced staff.
  • Observe your child in his/her class from afar; don't get close enough to cause a distraction to your child or the class.
  • Please remember that one parent must remain on the mountain while a child is in any program, or should be reachable by phone in case of an emergency.
  • Dress in layers; more is better than less.
  • Socks:  We suggest only one pair of wool or poly that come up over your calf.  Boots should fit snugly.
  • When it is extremely cold on the mountain due to temperature or wind chill, classes will take frequent breaks to prevent frostbite. Hot chocolate, while in the program, is on us!
  • On sunny days, use sunscreen and protective eyewear.
  • By far the best and most economical programs for those who have never skied or snowboarded before are our all day programs.
  • We cannot take reservations via e-mail. All reservations must be made by phone.
