Description

Title / Position: Lift Attendant

Position type: Seasonal, Full-time or Part-time; Hourly, Non-Exempt

Reports to: Lift Operations Supervisor

Working on the front-line of our resort, Lift Attendants help our guests load and ride lift equipment taking them up the mountain to enjoy the 47 trails at Bromley. Although the time spent with each guest is short, these people ARE the face of the staff here.

Summary:  Primary responsibility is to operate lifts and maintain safe conditions for our guests.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Understands how lifts function; especially their safety mechanisms
  • Operates aerial and surface lifts in a safe manner
  • Assists guests and those learning to ski/ride at lift terminals, especially loading platform
  • Removes excess snow from lifts, ramps, decks, nets and areas adjacent to lifts
  • Keeps shacks and adjacent areas neat and free of garbage
  • Assists lift maintenance staff as needed
  • Assists with lift evacuation
  • Performs other duties as necessary

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Reliable and responsible
  • Able to work outside in all types of Vermont winter weather
  • Must be able to work standing up for extended periods of time
  • Able to push, pull, and lift substantial amount of weight on a frequent basis
  • Able to ride a chairlift and not be afraid of heights
  • Safety conscious and oriented
  • Must be personable and willing to work with others; team oriented
  • Must project image established by Bromley
  • Have reliable transportation in winter conditions

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment:

This job operates primarily outdoors during the winter season. This includes all forms of winter weather found in Vermont. This role routinely uses landscaping equipment like shovels and rakes.

Physical Demands:

This is a physically active role requiring several hours of standing and working outdoors; includes shoveling snow, cleaning lift chairs, and building ramps. Occasionally indoors using computers and phones as well. Must be able to lift and carry 20 lbs over uneven terrain.

Caregiver (Kids Center)
Caring for the children of our guests is a great responsibility that we take seriously. In the Kids Center our customers are ages 6 weeks to 6 years old. The program is a combination of inside care and outside ski lessons – one of the only programs like it in the Eastern US. Inside care involves arts and crafts, games, group activities and free play. Outside ski lessons are available for children ages 2½ to 6. Experience caring for children, younger siblings, babysitting, camp counselor, etc. is preferred. Most important is a positive, upbeat personality and the ability to wear a smile every day and make each child’s visit a wonderful experience.
Ticket Office Seller (Sales team member)
Selling lift tickets is often the first contact we have with our guests and something nearly every guest needs to do while visiting Bromley. These employees provide essential initial impressions that set the tone for the remainder of the guest’s stay with us.
Snowsports Desk Attendant (Sales Team Member)
The Snowsports School desk staff is where the guest’s experience begins when it comes to any lesson or education program at Bromley. Quality guest service is our number one priority. We desire staff who can show empathy, kindness, and understanding in all scenarios.

Mascot Volunteer & Escort
Bromley, Vermont’s Sun Mountain, is seeking an energetic, friendly & guest focused individual to be our mascot, Sunny Bromley, and an assistant (Escort) for the 2019/2020 Winter Season! Get a season pass, or passes for friends and family for free, plus other great benefits, simply for waving, posing for photos, and handing out Bromley promotional items to guests – all while sporting a cozy, giant sun costume. If you like to make people smile and play your way through the day, then a season as Sunny Bromley is for you!
Ski Instructor (Kids Center: ages 2-6)
If you are interested in teaching kids how to ski from an early age and enjoy working with children, then the Kids Center Ski Instructor is for you. We are looking for several individuals to assist our Kids Center in taking care of children while teaching them the basics of how to move on skis.
Receptionist / Switchboard Operator
If you enjoy meeting new people and solving problems then this could be a good fit for you. We are looking for happy, engaging and courteous staff to greet guests and answer calls.
Laborer / Handyman
We are looking for a few individuals to join our team assisting in the Bromley Village mowing lawns, clearing debris, working on culverts, and other general outdoor maintenance. This is outdoors, working with hand tools. Ability to work as part of team towards a common goal is paramount for this position.
Building Maintenance Technician (Base Area)
We are looking for a thorough Maintenance Technician to undertake the responsibility to preserve the good condition and functionality of premises. You will perform maintenance tasks of great variety such as painting, minor plumbing, snow removal, minor carpentry, janitorial, landscaping etc. The goal is to maintain the buildings and common areas in the best possible condition.
Food Service, Restaurant, and Bar staff
Staying nourished and hydrated are key to having a great day out on the mountain, therefore having a great team that provides this service to our guests is also important. Join the Bromley/Centerplate food service team, we are looking for people to fill several positions in our Base Lodge cafeteria, Wild Boar restaurant, and Long Trail Base Camp.
Snowboard Instructor (Ski & Snowboard School: ages 5-adult)
If you are 14 or older and have prior snowboarding experience, then consider bringing that passion to our Snowsports School teaching others to ride. We provide paid clinics so you can learn to teach others this amazing sport. In additional to your paycheck, you receive a season pass, locker, discounts/benefits at the mountain, and the ability to ride at other mountains at a discount.

Night Cleaning / Housekeeping Crew Member
We are looking for someone who has a few extra hours each evening who desires some extra income to help keep Bromley clean. Night cleaning teams are needed to ensure the bathrooms and common spaces are clean and ready to receive our guests the next morning. This usually involves only a few hours at the end of our business day (starting around 5pm).

Snowmaker (Night Crew) (Bonus and OT available)
Some of the most important jobs take place when nobody is around to see success. This can be said about snowmaking. Snow is made by a small group of highly motivated and dedicated members of the Bromley team who operate when the weather is right for making snow. This can be day or night, during weekends and holidays, starting in early November and lasting through most of the season. Bromley Mountain Resort is looking for a few new snowmakers to compliment our existing night crew. No previous snowmaking experience is necessary – we can train you to do the job. What we demand is a good attitude, being physically fit, and teamwork is paramount. *This position receives a 10% hourly bonus compared to day shift plus OT almost every week we have cold temps.
Night Security
If you like working in the evenings and independently, have strong moral character and an eye for detail, then consider this position. Bromley Village is looking for a responsible, independent worker to fill an opening as a Night Watchman. This employee is key to the security and safety of our homeowners and guests. Attention to detail and providing quality guest relations are paramount for this position.
Repair Technician
Customer service and safety are top priorities at Bromley and our Repair Technicians are instrumental to both. Working directly with our guests, Repair Technicians provide the expertise and recommendations of how to adjust and repair snowsports equipment.
Rental Shop Technician
Customer service and safety are top priorities at Bromley and our Rental Shop Technicians are critical to both. These employees have direct contact with our guests, establishing the tone for the rest of the day and providing them with properly fitted equipment. If rentals are successful in their role then the guest is far more likely to enjoy their day.
